In the extension of a detached house in the Zurich Oberland, a customised wellness oasis was created that leaves nothing to be desired. The spacious room harmoniously combines materials and design to create an unrivalled atmosphere of relaxation.

In an attic with beautiful old exposed beams, a sauna was fitted into the complex space with slopes, corners and skylights. The result is a wellness jewel that is part of the living space: harmonious and accentuated at the same time.

Relaxation and wellness also have their place in a small space. In this project, a walk-in shower was combined with a Küng bio sauna. Sauna and shower merge here as congenital partners in the bathroom.

From a single source Schärer Beck AG and Küng Wellness AG have created a wellness area in a single-family house that is tailored to the needs of the client and harmonizes with the design of the house.

In the new construction of a city villa on Lake Zug, the wellness area plays a major role. A spacious, harmoniously and exclusively designed room for meditation, training, sauna - a feel-good space for body and soul with a spectacular view of the lake.

As head coach of the Swiss national ice hockey team, Patrick Fischer knows all about the pressure that is part and parcel of competitive sport. And he knows that a counterbalance is needed. ‘The sauna was always like dessert after sport for me during my active career. It's a blessing for the body detoxifies, regenerates and stimulates the metabolism. Above all, the ritual brings peace of mind and soul, you find new strength,’ says the former professional player.

The wishes were big, the space small: the owners of a detached house wanted to transform their hobby room into a wellness oasis. The 25m2 area was to accommodate a bio-sauna, experience shower, whirlpool and a lounger for two people.

With the construction of a private wellness paradise right next to his home, this client proved how well modern architecture and poetry go together. Clear lines and high-quality materials are the main features of his indoor swimming pool. But sophisticated interplay of materials and lighting technology created dreamy atmospheres.

Anyone entering this Swiss wellness area must automatically think of the Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang. Because here not only different forms of relaxation but also opposing materials have been combined - and in the smallest of spaces! The effect, however, is anything but cramped, but calm and balanced.

A spa in the bathroom is a dream for many - the residents of this home have made it a reality. It was made possible by Kueng's space-saving combined sauna and steam shower system. To enhance the relaxation experience even further, a fold-out infrared panel has been integrated into the sauna. So you can relax here in several ways at once.

The dream of owning a house in the countryside came true for a family of five. Only the cramped parents' bathroom disturbed them with its eighties charm. The owners took action and had the wall to the adjacent room torn down, transforming the newly acquired realm into a wellness oasis with a sauna for the whole family.

The Swiss town of Pontresina still lives a strong tradition - which may also be due to the fact that it is surrounded by breathtaking mountain peaks. For the wellness oasis in the basement of an Engadine house, it was clear to Emulsion's interior designers that it should create references to nature and alpine culture. This design challenge succeeded, without any grand gestures.

After a flood destroyed the pool house of a villa owner in Wilen, everything changed in the new construction: It now opens onto the garden, where a natural pond and Lake Zurich are the immediate extension of the indoor pool. With natural stone and spruce wood cladding, the new wellness world is also an ode to the mountains.

Holidays in the mountains have never been so close for a family in Rapperswil as after the conversion of their basement: there is now a recreational landscape with sauna and fitness area. Above all, the materials used, rustic stone and spruce wood, celebrate the Alpine charm.

As an ambitious athlete, the resident of a terrace apartment on Lake Zurich knows how to get the best out of himself: For example, by taking regular saunas. Under the creative hand of interior designer Franziska Crivelli, the relatively small master bathroom was upgraded with a state-of-the-art sauna area.

Whether the farmers who once lived here would have dreamed that their home would one day be so beautiful? Hardly. But the ancient wooden beams still proudly tell their story, including in the newly created wellness bath. Here, historical and ultra-modern building elements meet, and dignified aged wooden beams meet an innovative sauna.

What eating together is to us, going to the sauna is to the Scandinavians - just like for a family from the community of Wollerau on Lake Zurich. Their sauna cabin in the basement of the house should therefore offer each member their own seat, despite the tightest of spaces. The solution? A hand-crafted wooden heptagon!

The municipality of Hurden is located on a peninsula of Lake Zurich: water is omnipresent here. When a couple of architects living here renovated their former swimming hall, the focus was not on the wet blue, but on the heat-treated poplar wood.
