iFar infrared: Gentle heat therapy with a deep effect

Heat is one of mankind's oldest remedies. Whether it's a warming bath, a hot compress or the cozy feeling of the sun's rays on the skin - warmth means relaxation, relief and healing. However, technology continues to develop and offers new possibilities. In recent years, a very special form of heat therapy has come into the limelight: Far Infrared. This special radiation penetrates deep into the tissue, promotes blood circulation and can even relieve pain - without any side effects.

Far infrared: waves with a beneficial effect

The effect of far infrared radiation (FIR) is based on resonance: the waves cause water molecules in the body to vibrate, which generates uniform deep heat. This heat reaches muscles, joints and the surrounding tissue - where tension and chronic pain are located. Studies show that FIR can promote blood circulation, relieve inflammation, stimulate lymph flow and accelerate cell regeneration. This makes far infrared an effective method for complaints such as

  • Back pain
  • arthritis
  • sore muscles
  • sleep problems
  • stress symptoms

What is far infrared?

Infrared is part of the electromagnetic spectrum - more precisely, the frequency range directly below visible light - which is why it differs from the red light used in color therapy. There are three main ranges: Near Infrared (NIR), Mid Infrared and Far Infrared (FIR). The further we move towards "far" in the spectrum, the longer the wavelength - and the deeper the radiation penetrates into the body.

Far infrared radiation has wavelengths between around 5.6 and 1000 micrometers. Its long-wave heat reaches deeper layers of tissue without heating the skin too much. In comparison, near infrared tends to act on the surface - it warms the skin but not the deeper tissue

A look back: the history of far infrared use in the wellness sector

The roots of the infrared sauna go back to the 1960s. Back then, Japanese physician Dr. Tadashi Ishikawa developed the first ceramic far infrared heating element - the starting signal for a new type of heat therapy. The first infrared cabins appeared in Japan in the 1970s, followed later by North America and Europe. The idea behind it: Instead of heating the air as in a classic sauna, heat was to be generated directly in the body using infrared radiation - more gentle, more effective, more suitable for everyday use. Today, infrared saunas are used all over the world - from private bathrooms to modern wellness centers.

The infrared sauna is the ideal place to take full advantage of the benefits of far infrared radiation. In modern FIR cabins, it is not primarily the air that is heated - but the body directly. This creates a gentle but intense feeling of warmth that penetrates deep into the tissue. In contrast to the dry heat of classic saunas (80-100 °C), the temperature in our FIR sauna is between 35 and 40 °C - which is much more pleasant and tolerable. You can therefore enjoy the treatment for up to 45 minutes and use it regularly as required.

Another advantage: our saunas with InfraFlex® technology are space-saving, energy-efficient and ideal for installation at home. We can provide you with a custom-made sauna that is perfectly tailored to your space and health goals. Would you like to combine infrared with a sauna heater or bio sauna? We offer flexible solutions to suit your needs.

How does the technology behind far infrared work?

Our high-quality infrared panels generate far infrared radiation using special glass ceramic heaters. These heating elements emit targeted long-wave radiation in the biologically active range between 6 and 15 micrometers - exactly where the human body absorbs heat best. The radiators do not heat the air, but generate deep heat directly on the body. Reflectors distribute the radiation evenly throughout the room. This results in intensive but pleasant sweating - the body is purified and the muscles relaxed. This technology is sophisticated, safe and does not require a long lead time. The effect can be felt after just a few minutes.

Combining far and near infrared? This is possible with mobile red light panels

While far infrared is the main component of your infrared sauna, near infrared and red light can be used specifically as a supplement - for example for selective treatment on certain parts of the body. This is because these wavelengths work particularly well when the light source is used close to the body. Modern, mobile red light panels combine short-wave NIR radiation with visible red light. These devices are particularly suitable for skin regeneration, muscle treatment or wound healing - also ideal for use on the face, neck or back. Such panels can be easily retrofitted to existing cabins for red light therapy. You will soon find these practical devices in our store - the perfect addition to your far infrared sauna.

Tipps für die Anwendung zu Hause

An FIR sauna can be perfectly integrated into your everyday life. With these tips, you can enjoy the deep heat even more:

  • Choice of location: A quiet, well-ventilated room is ideal. A firm, level surface is important.
  • Clothing: Far infrared radiation works best on bare skin or through light cotton textiles.
  • Hydration: Drink plenty of water before and after each treatment - detoxification through sweating puts a strain on the body.
  • Regularity: Two to three times a week is ideal. If you want to alleviate discomfort, you can increase the frequency as required.
  • Care afterwards: The skin is particularly receptive after the session. Use this moment for nourishing care products.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about far infrared

What is the difference between far infrared and near infrared?

Far infrared works deep in the tissue, provides holistic warmth and regeneration after sport. Near infrared has a more superficial effect and is ideal for skin and localized treatment - e.g. with panels.

Can I also use the infrared sauna if I have circulatory problems?

Yes, because the temperatures are significantly lower than in traditional saunas. However, if you are unsure, please speak to your doctor first.

Who is far infrared particularly suitable for?

For people with chronic pain, muscle tension, sleep disorders, skin problems, exhaustion or sports injuries.

Can I read or listen to music while using the device?

Yes - our saunas can be equipped with light therapy, music modules or wooden headrests. Relaxation is welcome! In contrast to a steam shower or sauna with infusion, the humidity in far infrared is low so that books are not damaged.
