With wood and soul
Wood is our great love. And we are happy to share it with you. Because wood makes every Küng sauna unique. It gives it aroma and character. Of course, not every trunk and every branch is suitable. That's why we only use what will last and work properly. Sometimes from the north, sometimes from the mountain forest. Every tree can do something different. You will be amazed at how well our wood species get along with warmth.
Saunning with character
Arve
Their scent immediately reminds one of holidays in the Engadine. Its wood is considered a miracle wood from the forest above 1600 metres. High up in the mountains, it defies cold and weather. Year in, year out. This makes the Swiss stone pine fine-grained and less elastic. It also contains essential oils that are good for your well-being.
Red Cedar
The "Gore-Tex" among woods remains sovereign even when humidity is high. Cedar is particularly impermeable and contains the natural preservative phenol. Furthermore, the aromatic and even wood also acts as a soul-flatterer: the dark, reddish-brown colour of red cedar naturally exudes a feeling of warmth.
Kelo
In the search for the perfect sauna wood, there is no getting around aspen. It grows in our latitudes, is stable and keeps its shape. What's more, the light wood conducts heat only slightly and makes the sauna session pleasant for the skin.

Polarkiefer
Polar pine is particularly suitable for sauna construction. Because it only grows slowly in the cold, it provides fine-grained, hard and extremely resistant wood for your sauna. Hardly grained, it is beautiful to look at and retains its natural resin scent for decades. Our favourite!
Erle
You don't have to go far for the alder. The native deciduous tree brings a soft shade of red into play and likes to give off some of its typical scent. As craftsmen, we like the alder because its soft, even wood is easy to work with.
Thermo-Aspen
When it comes to insensitivity, the thermo aspen from the poplar family is a good choice. It is first thermally treated with steam and high temperatures. The result: the resin evaporates, the wood becomes resistant and takes on an even, dark colour.
Building method
The most important material in sauna construction is and remains wood. But before you choose which tree will contribute to your relaxation in the future, the construction method is determined: Element construction or solid wood sauna? Each type of construction has its advantages:
