In principle, polypropylene pools can be manufactured in many shapes so that they fit into your wellness oasis according to your wishes. However, the material properties of polypropylene impose somewhat narrower limits on the shape than, for example, a pool made of concrete or stainless steel.

Polypropylene is welded into sheets that can be thermoformed and customized. This is achieved by selectively heating and bending the material. PPC pools can therefore be manufactured in a rectangular shape, with gently rounded corners or in an organic free-form shape with curved lines. Oval and polygonal pools are also possible. Would you like a designer pool with an infinity design, overflow channels, a comfortable seating area and steps or different floor variants in the pool? These wishes can also be easily realized with a polypropylene pool.

However, strongly curved shapes or designs with sharp angles, such as an L-shaped pool, require additional reinforcements, struts or substructures. Due to the greater manufacturing and welding effort involved, these pools are therefore associated with higher costs and longer construction times. Pools with strong curves or perfectly round pools are technically more challenging or not possible - other materials such as concrete are better suited to this than plastic. Sometimes you also hear the term GRP pools in connection with plastic pools. A GRP pool is a swimming pool made of glass fiber-reinforced plastic, which is sometimes sold as a cheaper alternative to the classic polypropylene pool (PP pool or PPC pool) made of plastic. So should you opt for a GRP pool or a PP pool if you are interested in a plastic pool?

Compared to a GRP pool, a polypropylene pool offers a durable and aesthetically pleasing solution for indoor and outdoor use. In this case, the PP pool impresses with its higher quality, durability and individual design options. PPC pools are made from robust polypropylene panels that are welded together. This enables customized solutions and the implementation of individual wishes when designing the pool, steps and benches. GRP pools are made from several layers of glass fiber reinforced plastic and laminated as a finished pool in a mold. This means that GRP pools are only available in prefabricated standard shapes and hardly allow any individual design options.

Polypropylene pools also score highly in terms of material quality in this plastic pool comparison, as GRP pools are at risk of osmosis. This means that water can penetrate the plastic layers, causing bubbles to form in the material. In addition, GRP tends to become brittle when exposed to strong temperature fluctuations. PP pools, on the other hand, are UV-resistant (i.e. they do not fade) and are resistant to chemicals and fluctuating temperatures. They are therefore suitable for indoor and outdoor use. Thanks to their smooth, non-porous surface, which minimizes the formation of algae, PP pools are also easier to clean than GRP pools.

While the transport and installation of a GRP pool is often associated with challenges - the pool must be delivered as a complete shell and installed with millimeter precision - PP pools can be installed more flexibly. They can either be delivered as prefabricated pools or welded directly on site.

So it turns out that the made-to-measure PPC pool is the better alternative when it comes to plastic pools. These materials offer the highest quality, individual design options and a significantly longer service life.
